It's official. The summer is over. In fact I'm sitting here feeling awfully guilty because it's 9 AM and I had planned on already being at school. I'll get there eventually. I did make it into my classroom on Monday and I got a lot done! I set up all my furniture (with the help of my awesome boyfriend), set up all my computers (I know have 4, a netbook and a a laptop...YAY!), and worked on my classroom library. My goal today is to get some bulletin boards up!
On Tuesday, I went to the Pinnacle Conference. I'm not going to lie, one of the main reasons I went was because I heard there were door prizes. So of course I didn't win! Anyway, we had a great presenter, Nic Finelli, who shared some new ideas to use Google in the classroom.
Yesterday, I went to the GCS Teaching and Learning Conference. I went to the all day Kagan Structures session. I fell in love! I realized that I had no clue was cooperative learning was. I thought group work was great and dandy and I prided myself for using it in my classroom. Well, apparently I was wrong. I learned so much that I am definitely going to take back and use with my kiddos. Although I had bad luck winning door prizes at Pinnacle, I won the new Kagan Book yesterday! :) Also I made some Kagan Manage Mats on Google Drawing to save some money. If you want it, just let me know!
Anyone else sad about summer being over? Anyone else excited about a brand new year?
