Spring Cleaning!

Do you ever have the urge to do a little spring cleaning?? I can't wait until my spring break to do some major changes!  But for now, while I'm still stuck in school with winter weather, spring cleaning at TPT will have to do!

I am joining some of my friends to participate in a Spring Cleaning Sale.

Do you want to take part? This is all you have to do...

1-Comment on all of the purchases you have made in TPT.  Did you know that you get credit for leaving feedback?  This adds up and you can get discounts when you check out. AWESOME!

2-Open your wish list and add the items to your cart that you just have to have to make it through the rest of the year!

3-Purchase these fabulous items after you've left all of the feedback!

WANTED! A Pirate Activity

As most of you know, I moved from third grade to fourth grade this year.  I love, love, love teaching fourth grade.  One reason I love it so.... is because I get to teach NC History.

A little known fact about me is I love History! I love watching the History Channel, reading history books and being an all out nerd (especially when it comes to American History). I even wanted to be a high school history teacher once upon a time.

I've always loved NC History, even when I was a little fourth grader myself.  One reason why North Carolina is so cool is because of PIRATES! Yep, here in the Carolinas we have an interesting relationship with historical figures like Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, Mary Read and Anne Bonny. They might have caused a raucous a couple of hundred years ago, but students today love learning about them!

We get the North Carolina Social Studies Weekly (which I love since I'm new to the grade).  They have one for every state. How cool is that? A few weeks back we read up on some of the infamous pirates that were important to North Carolina.  We also read these fabuloso books!

So I created some Wanted Pirate Posters and my kiddos added some information about their favorite pirates.

My teammate had the students create their own pirates and they turned out super cute too!

I've uploaded the file on Google Docs, if you would like a copy for your students! Just Click on the picture below.

What is your favorite part about teaching the grade you're currently in? I'd love to hear!

3 Million Strong!

I'm sure you have already heard about the huge sale at TeachersPayTeachers! THREE MILLION!?!?! That's crazy sauce!

I love the sales, mainly because my wishlist is always full! Moving to fourth grade this year, has been quite the transition.

Since I moved to fourth grade, I haven't made many new things since I'm still learning the curriculum (and busy spending time with my hunny!) But, here are some of my favorite products that can help you throughout the rest of the year!

Click here to visit my store and check out some of my other products!

What's on your wishlist, I'd love to hear! Happy Shopping!

Well, I may have not posted lately. But I have a freebie for you!

Yesterday I was working on my class list for Valentine's Day and I posted this picture on Instagram.

You can download an editable version from my store here.  It is a PowerPoint file, so just add a text box and type! I hope that you can use it! (or tuck it away for next year)

Also, you should follow me on Instagram here! My name is "adventuresinthird"!  I might not blog often anymore, but I always Instagram! :)

It's Hump Day Guys! I can see the weekend.  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy New Year and a Little Freebie!

Can you believe that it is 2014?  I am in shock! This past year flew by!  2013 was an incredible year for me personally and professionally.  Here are some highlights from the year!

  • I met the love of my life and became engaged all in the span of 6 months!
  • I moved into a new apartment that I love.
  • I traveled a lot! I went to Vegas and got to spend some time with some fabulous bloggers!

  • I went to Gatlinburg, Asheville, Charleston, and Washington, DC with my then boyfriend (now future hubs).

  • I saw my sister for the first time in two years!

  • I moved from third grade to fourth grade (and have loved every minute!)
  • I bought a MacBook (a lifelong dream-haha)
So 2013 was a year where I focused a lot more on my personal life, instead of blogging. I'm hoping to change that.  I miss you guys!  I'm not into resolutions because I never keep them. But I do have some goals set for the following year!
  • Plan a kickass wedding
  • Blog two times a week
  • Work on some of my ideas that I have in my TPT Ideas Notebook
  • Learn how to use my Silhouette
So yep, those are my goals for the year.  Send some positive thoughts my way!

Oh, did you see the title? Yes I have a freebie for you!  I went back to school today. Today, you say? Yep....today!

I felt a little off track with Reading Workshop by the end of December, so I wanted to get focused the first day back.  So today, during the minilesson we reviewed expectations and procedures.  Then, the students filled out a Reflection and Goal Setting Sheet for Reading Workshop.

I met with each of my "buzz groups" and we discussed goals and ways to achieve those goals.  These reflections really helped me to see where my kids were at and I hope that it helped them set some good goals for the rest of fourth grade!

If you would like this goal setting sheet, CLICK HERE or on the picture above.  Just download it from Google Docs. Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy! I hope you can use it!

Currently December!

It's been a while since I linked up, but here we go!

Listening-Does anyone else love Homeland? This season has let me down a little bit.  But I can't abandon Carrie and Brody. (Plus they film the show where I live!)

Loving- I mean really, what is the point of Mondays?

Thinking- I have been so busy that I don't even know what I need from TPT!  What is a must have for fourth grade?

Wanting-I think I need to do some Cyber Monday shopping, so I don't have to go back out to the stores in December! haha!

Needing-Dinner is overrated.

Christmas Tradition-  Even though all of my siblings are over the age of 20, we still decorate Christmas cookies every Christmas Eve.  My sister doesn't even live here anymore, but we Facetime with her so she's included!

Be sure to go and check out Farley's Linky this month!

Also, don't forget to go shopping over at TPT! You can get everything in my store for 28% off with the code Cyber!

If you're looking for some Holiday activities, I just posted a Christmas Lapbook yesterday!

You can also check out my Holly Jolly Math and Literacy Centers.  They are also available in a bundle!

Brand Spankin' New Holiday Lapbook!

I'm sure you have probably heard of the sale already!

Of course, I am participating!  Click Here to visit my store!  My store is already on sale for 20% off, but starting tomorrow you can get an extra 10% off with the code CYBER. Don't forget to type in the code.  Every sale I always seem to forget!  I hope that I'm not the only one who does that....

I have a new product to share too! Just in time for the sale and the holidays.  I love lapbook units, and this is my first holiday lapbook, but I am in love with it!  It still includes everything you are used to, even though it's a holiday lapbook.

This lapbook is meant for big kids who still like to celebrate the holiday, but whose teachers just don't have as much time to do holiday activities that don't fit in with the standards! Problem solved, with all of the fold-its I have included Informational (nonfiction)  reading selections to go with it! There are also quick checks to monitor comprehensions (and take a quick grade!)

Here is a picture of the completed lapbook.

Click Here to check it out!

Happy Shopping tomorrow ladies and gents!  Have a great week back to school!
